About Troop 302
Troop 302 is committed to the timeless values of Scouting. For 87 years, the Troop has continued as a boy led organization that uses the “patrol” method. The Senior Patrol Leader along with the Troop Leadership Council, organize plan and run each meeting/event. Adult leaders provide guidance to lead each scout along the trail to Eagle.
Troop 302 has 33 active youth members and meets each Monday at 7:00 p.m. at 700 E. Melrose Ave. The troop is sponsored by Faith Presbyterian Church.
There are monthly outings and day trips to ensure each scout has an opportunity to practice outdoor skills and advance through the ranks. It has often been said, “302 puts the outing in scouting”.
Troop 302 is committed to the Christian values and traditions introduced in 1910. This includes a commitment to God and our country. The troop employs biblical and spiritual lessons on each outing which is led by the Troop Chaplain.
Scout Master Sean Young became a Troop 302 Eagle Scout in 1985 under the guidance of Scout Master Emeritus David “Woody” Woodward. Scout Master Young served as a Troop Committee Member and Assistant Scout Master and was appointed to the Scout Master’s post in 2009. Scout Master Young is married to his wife, Toni and they have five children.
